How Often Does a Fuel Filter Need to Be Changed?

If equipped (and a lot of cars don't have them anymore), modern cars usually just have a pre-filter in the tank. If you have an older car, I would say every three to four years — so roughly 30 to 60,000 miles — is when you should at least get your fuel filter checked.

But again, most modern vehicles only have a pre-filter in the tank and they don’t have those anymore.
